Sentinels Eliminated from Valorant Masters By Envy in a 2-0 Upset

VALORANT Masters favorites, Sentinels, have been eliminated in the Quarterfinals, by fellow North American team Envy. Team Envy are now set to face 100 Thieves in the semifinals tomorrow.

The series started on the map Haven, Sentinels winning the first round with zombz picking up three kills with the Frenzy. Envy returned with a save round, where Victor picked up a kill on dapr with the Classic, then used dapr’s Spectre to find another two kills post-plant. Envy snowballed from there, finishing the first half on Haven with a 9-3 round lead.

The second half started well for Envy, winning the pistol round and the Spectre & Heavy Shields full buy on the second round, but once Sentinels got their hands on full shields and assault rifles, they gained great momentum and brought the scores back to 12-12, winning nine rounds broken by only one loss.

Overtime looked promising for Sentinels, who won the first round comfortably, but in the second round Envy’s Marved managed to find four kills on defense, drawing the game up at 13-13. Crashies started to truly take over the game, stopping Sentinels’ spike defuse on the 27th round with a clutch 1v2, and then on the final round found four kills, ending the first game at 15-13.

Envy carried their momentum to the second game on Split, yay winning a spectacular 1v2 situation on defense and managing to defuse the spike to secure the first round. Once again Envy won the Spectre full buy on round two, and lost the third round once Sentinels had rifles in their hands again after a save.

The game looked to be slipping away from Sentinels, as star player TenZ had zero kills after nine rounds, but managed to find four kills on the tenth to aid the damage control. Following this, Sentinels find two more round wins, finishing the first half at 7-5, Envy lead.

To start off the second half, Envy’s Victor finds three very high impact kills with the Classic, winning a 1v2 after planting the spike, ending the round. Envy continued to win round after round, leaving the game at 11-5. Zombs and dapr tried their best to revive hope for Sentinels, finding 3 kills each in the 17th and 18th rounds, but were ultimately defeated and eliminated from the tournament in a 13-7 loss.

Envy haven’t yet qualified for the Champions spot, the final tournament of the year. They must either beat 100 Thieves in the semifinals, have 100 Thieves win the Grand Final if Envy lose, or win in the Last Chance Qualifier to earn a spot at Champions.

The North American match-up between Envy and 100 Thieves begins at 1pm CT on the 18th, after the other semifinal match, Gambit v. G2.
