Rekkles to Leave G2 Esports, Tryouts For A Replacement Underway

LEC veteran and former World Champion Rekkles, will not be returning to G2 Esports next season, as reported by BloopGG.

After a disappointing Summer Split, G2 Esports is now in the process of selling Rekkles’ contract, ending in November 2023. Team Vitality was the first to show interest in picking up Rekkles for the next season, but G2 Esports is currently not open to negotiating with them.

G2’s star players Caps and Jankos reportedly both did not want to play with Rekkles for another year, presumably due to the different play styles, as their lack of synergy is what seemed to prevent the team from qualifying for the 2021 World Championships.

G2 Esports is now holding tryouts for the ADC role with numerous different players from the European regional league, but are yet to confirm a replacement.

Over the off season, G2 is likely to attempt a near full rebuild with the departure of their ADC, and has made the contracts of their Top laner, Wunder, and Support player, Mikyx, available for buyout. Alongside the three players expected to be leaving the team, Head Coach Grabbz is also leaving G2, giving the team a huge opportunity to build around their remaining two iconic players.
