Worlds Quarterfinals Complete, Semifinals to Commence on the 30th of October

With the conclusion of the Cloud 9 v. Gen. G quarterfinal, the semifinal matches have been determined. The results for the quarterfinals are as follows:

  • T1 3-0 HLE
  • EDG 3-2 RNG
  • DK 3-0 MAD
  • GenG 3-0 C9

The results of the quarterfinals are disappointing for western fans, as both North American and European teams were defeated without a win. Korean and Chinese fans are to rejoice however, as LPL team EDG has progressed to the semi-finals, and LCK holds the remaining three teams in the tournament. The Final is certain to have a Korean team, as on the second half of the bracket is the semi-final between DWG KIA and T1.

Although Damwon are said to be clear favorites to take their second championship in a row, T1 has performed better and better since their LCK Summer Playoffs, where they lost 3-1 to Damwon in the Finals. No player on T1 seems to be looking like a liability and their bot laners Gumayusi and Keria have been playing exceptionally. This gives T1 a fighting chance, as DWG’s bot lane seems to be their weakest point.

We’re predicting T1 to win 3-2 against Damwon, and for EDG to defeat Gen.G 3-1. These games could go any way however, as each semifinal looks to be a very even matchup.

The first semifinal commences on the 30th of October, between T1 and DWG KIA. Following this on the 31st, Gen.G will play Edward Gaming to decide the finalists. The final will be held on the 6th of November between two of those four teams, and an opening ceremony will precede the best of five matches.
